Alan C. Aimone, Accredited Senior Appraiser
Mr. Aimone specializes in appraisal of books, manuscripts, maps, historic photographs and other print materials. He is a member of the American Society of Appraisers. In 2004, Mr. Aimone qualified for the distinction of Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) and maintains that status through ongoing education and publishing.
He is currently a member of the Las Vegas, NV Chapter of the American Society of Appraisers. He is a past president of the Hudson Valley, NY Chapter. Mr. Aimone regularly attends national and international appraisal conferences and has regularly attended the New York Antiquarian Book Fairs and the California Book Fairs. While currently based in Las Vegas, Nevada, Mr. Aimone travels nationally and internationally for appraisals. He been a prolific published writer and speaker throughout his career, including a number of articles and presentations regarding book, manuscript and map appraisal.
All appraisals done by Mr. Aimone comply with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and IRS guidelines.
Mr. Aimone has completed over 500 appraisals, with valuations ranging from under $50 to over twelve million dollars. Some appraisals have required appraising only one or a few items, while others have involved thousands of items. He has appraised books, documents, manuscripts, maps and other print material related to a vast range of subjects and genres, including fiction, poetry, history, religion, music, psychology, medicine, art, Native Americans, juvenile books and comic books.
Appraisals are typically done in connection with legal issues including estate planning and probate, insurance or donation valuation, and sale. Clients include attorneys, insurance companies, educational institutions, and individuals. Mr. Aimone neither buys nor sells books or documents but does offer clients guidance regarding appropriate avenues for sale or donation.
